Logistics Support System


Beirut, August 20, 2006. The World Health Organization has mobilized a team of experts in LSS-Logistics
Support System to collaborate with the task of collecting information about the humanitarian aid received
and distributed in Lebanon. The main role of this LSS team is to support the WHO Representation and the Ministry of Health of Lebanon in the function on managing the humanitarian aid. The LSS was developed
by WHO in conjunction with PAHO, UNICEF, WFP, OCHA, and UNHCR. Moreover FUNDESUMA and the UNJLC
have contributed to the design and development of software and technical documentation
 


LSS – Logistics Support System has been installed in MOH warehouse located in Karantina.
This warehouse manages sanitarian and medical supplies that are been distributed to different dependencies. The LSS international team in conjunction with the IT personnel of the WHO
Representative in Lebanon has conducted a workshop to the administrative persons in charge
of registering the inputs and outputs transaction. Data entry had been started and reports being
generated. Looking forward to improve the stock control and optimize the information of the distribution.



And more WHO had rented a warehouse located at United Nations Relief and Works Agency for
Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). This store contains medical supplies sent to WHO-Lebanon office for
redistribution. Training was made on LSS application System to WHO pharmacists. Data entry is made
on daily bases
