 World Health Day 2006 - Media Campaign

On the occasion of the World Health Day, which falls on the 7th of April each year, the WHO office in Beirut launched a media campaign aiming essentially at sensitizing the stakeholders in Health to the main issues raised related to Health.

 The topic for this year’s campaign was “Human Resources for Health”, and the slogan advocated for was: “Working Together for Health’.

The main messages for this year's topic included:

• Educated and well-trained health workers save lives
• Support and protect health workers
• Enhance the effectiveness of the health workforce through new strategies
• Tackle imbalances and inequities
• Governments must take the lead
• Promote partnership and cooperation
• Build trust among all stakeholders

The campaign was launched by a press conference where by the World Health Report 2006 findings were presented. In addition, the speech of the Director general of the WHO Regional office for this occasion was delivered by the WHO Representative , Dr Jaouad Mahjour. and finally, H.E. the Minister of Public Health, Dr Mohammad Jawad Khalifeh delivered his speech .

 The media campaign included television and radio programs, with the participation of WHO staff and Health professionals and decision makers from various health professional syndicates and associations.
 

The campaign included also a series on conferences about the topic for the year, as well as the production of Information material distributed to all written press.

 The World Health Day campaign culminated by a one day workshop involving professionals in health and health management to discuss issues related to human resources for health and propose alternative solutions adapted to the Lebanese situation.
